The 10 Best Hollywood Houses of All Time

The industry that entertains millions of people around the world has to stay top-notch with everything it displays, including the houses shown in movies. These houses, in many cases, not just complement the theme of the film but also capture viewers' attention more than the film's plot itself!

Here is a list of some of the most appreciated Hollywood homes ever. These homes never fail to remind us of the characters who resided in them. We hope you enjoy reading the list as much as we enjoyed compiling it for you!

1. Xanadu of Citizen Kane (1941)

Xanadu

The colossal dome of the classic movie Citizen Kane forms one of the best houses to have made an appearance in Hollywood movies. The name 'Xanadu' comes from Samue Taylor Colerdige's composition titles Kubla Khan, which opens with the lines "In Xanadu did Kubla Khan…" Just like the description in the poem, Xanadu was built to be a stately epicurean dome. Xanadu is also said to be the "costliest monument of a man to himself".

2. Tjoloholm Castle of Melancholia (2011)

Tjoloholm Castle

The spectacular Sweden home was started in 1894 and took nearly a decade to complete. It is a creation of architect Lars Israel Wahlmann, in the Arts and Crafts style that emphasizes aesthetics. The brilliant Melancholia home has the pleasantness of old architecture (including its 16th century style façade) and has the best of modern amenities to make it extremely comfortable. In Melancholia, this lovely house forms the setting for an apocalyptic script.

3. The Sheats/Goldstein House of Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle (2003) and The Big Lebowski (1998)

The Goldstein House

The Sheats/Goldstein House is a classic specimen of American organic style of architecture. The structure has the appearance of a luxurious cave, which, needless to say, gives the perfect setting for the den of Jackie Treehorn who plays a pornographer in The Big Lebowski.

The Beverly Hills house was built during the years 1961 to 1963 by the famous architect John Lautner. Besides this one, other houses of John Lautner too have made their way to numerous Hollywood movies.

It combines the best of old world grandeur and modern styling in its architecture. Every time we get a glimpse of the movie, we can't help feeling awed by the splendid house!

6. Ennis House of House on the Haunted Hill (1999), Blade Runner (1982) and The Day of the Locust (1975)

Ennis House

It's quite a surprise to imagine that the house that looks modern even by today's standards, was actually constructed in 1924. It is of the Mayan Revival school of architecture and owes its existence to architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The Ennis House has appeared in numerous films, commercials and TV shows; it's most popular appearance is that in the movie Blade Runner, as the hi-tech home of Rick Deckhard. It was tagged at $15 million in 2009, but the prices have slashed to nearly half the amount since then.

The house is a creation of architect Charles Deaton. It made its appearance in Woody Allen's sci-fi comedy flick in 1973; and might as well make an appearance of television in the near future as the owners have offered it as the setting for a reality show.

The residence of the Cullens in the first of the Twilight series came across as a pleasant surprise to those who'd have expected the vampires to be residing in a dark, haunted Victorian residence. The stunning house has a modern style without giving up on the warmth of a real home. It's built on an area of 5100 square feet. The current owner is John Hoke, a Nike executive, and the house is priced at about $3 million.
